떠도는 이들이 전하는 바람의 노래

<떠도는 이들이 전하는 바람의 노래>는 개인전 '해질녘 나의 하늘에는'(성곡미술관, 2015)에 발표한 대표작으로, 8채널 미장센으로 구성된 시적 영상이다. 이 작업은 '도시 속 공동체의 개체들이 떠난 삶의 공간을 담아낸 공허의 공간', '흔들리는 나무잎 사이로 비추는 따스한 햇살의 순간', '산 중턱에 자리한 설화바위의 영겁의 시간', 그리고 '유령처럼 공간을 가로질러 다니는 백발노인과 절름발이 남성의 초현실적 현실풍경' 등을 비순차적으로 병렬하여 배치하는 구조로 구성되어 있다.
현재 우리가 살고 있는 사회는 자본중심의 경제적 효율성을 우선으로하여 전개되고 있는 합리성을 우선으로 하고 있다. 이는 세계를 '자연과 인간', '물질과 영혼', '육체와 유령' 등으로 이분화 하려는 왜곡된 인식을 만들어 내며, '감각과 지각의 불일치'를 만들어 내고 있다. 결국 이러한 이분법적 세계관은 현실세계를 '불안과 혼돈'의 상태를 만들어내며, 오랫동안 지속해온 사회적 공동체를 경제적 효율성의 가치를 우선으로 하는 현실정책에 의해, 해체되고 파괴되어, 각 개체들을 고립시키고, 소외시키고 있다고 여긴다.
<떠도는 이들이 전하는 바람의 노래>는 이러한 '효율성을 우선으로 하여 전개되고 있는 사회에서 우리는 어떻게 공동체를 지속해 갈 수 있을까?' 라는 질문을 던지고 있다.
